Terry G. Williams, DrPH, MBA - Member

Terry G. Williams, DrPH, MBA, Dip Econ., Member, Center for Healthcare Economics and Policy Advisory Board, is Vice Chief Academic Officer – Transformative Solutions for Advocate Health and the Wake Forest School of Medicine. In this role he cultivates and guides scaling of the Advocate Health transformative academic ecosystem that works across the dozens of academic programs and payer, industry, and private sector relationships. He also leads initiatives between the Academic Enterprise, Commercialization and Innovations, and the Population Health agenda.

Terry has 30 years of industry experience, serving most recently as Senior Vice President, Chief Population Health Officer – Strategy & Partnerships for Advocate Health. Prior to this, he was Chief Population, Corporate and Government Affairs Officer for Atrium Health. He initiated the population health and value based journey at Wake Forest Baptist with Wake Forest School of Medicine ten years ago while serving as Chief Strategy Officer. The Advocate Health population health enterprise encompasses 2.3 million lives with 13,000 physicians in twelve (12) ACOs/CINs across 7 states. The participation of Advocate Health ACOs in various MSSP programs has saved Medicare $759 M since the program began, and paid out $1.4 B in savings with dozens of programs with various payers, in addition to significant capitated programs participation.

Terry is a board member of joint ventures with Best Buy Health and with ReMDO, which is associated with the renowned Wake Forest Institute of Regenerative Medicine. He is a member of the National Academy of Science Population Health Roundtable and a board member of several non-profits and quasi-governmental entities responsible for community development and multi-industry partnerships.

During Terry’s career, he has served as a chief strategy officer, chief transformation and growth officer, VP at a national healthcare IT company, and partner at a national consulting firm with personal work in more than 200 healthcare organizations and multiple academic organizations in 25+ states. He has been a strong advocate for years for transforming healthcare and the journey to be a high performing academic learning health system to improve the health and well-being of millions of lives. Williams has served as business executive sponsor for IQ Healthtech Labs in the Innovation Quarter, a 200+ acre innovations district that has been named one of the “Top 10 Most Distinctive Innovation Districts in the US” by Bruce Katz, Brookings Institute. He was actively involved in the National Transformation Programme for the Jamaican Prime Minister’s office earlier in his career.

Terry completed a doctorate in health leadership from the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health where he focused on the leadership actions, unique and innovative ecosystems, and multi-sectoral partnerships in communities with transformative change that improves health and well-being. Terry has an MBA from Emory’s Goizueta Business School and a graduate diploma in Economics from University of East Anglia in England. For the latter degree, Terry was awarded a Rotary International Scholarship to England where he focused on economics and policy for 15 countries.
