FTI Center for Healthcare Economics and Policy’s Marie Steele-Adjognon, PhD, and Jason Shafrin, PhD recently published a white paper comparing the per patient value that orphan drugs provide to society compared to non-orphan drugs. In addition, the analysis quantified the health benefits potentially at risk due to the ‘sole orphan exclusion’ provision mandated under the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022. The white paper is titled “Quantifying the Value of Orphan Drugs and the Impact of the IRA Sole Orphan Exclusion”.
